Laurel School District board honors administrative assistant Lori Lewis at retirement

The Laurel School District Board of Education recognized administrative assistant Lori Lewis at its December meeting, honoring her more than 11 years with the district and roughly 3637 years of service to the state.
"It's been the best 11.5 years, and I'm really gonna miss everyone because Laurel is my family," Lori Lewis said, thanking the board and staff for the tribute and the support she described as a workplace family.
Board members read a tribute from the state House of Representatives acknowledging Lewis's long service and listing events she helped coordinate, from graduations to staff recognition ceremonies. Mayor John Schwed presented an honorary tribute from the town of Laurel and noted Lewis began work with the district on Aug. 5, 2013 and is a 1986 graduate of Sussex Central High School.
Principals and board colleagues offered personal remarks and small gifts; family members including Lewis's husband, Sean, and her son Casey attended the presentation. The board described Lewis's work as setting a professional tone for district events and praised her reliability and attention to detail.
The board's recognition concluded with a round of applause and best wishes for Lewis's retirement. The board then moved on to regular business.
