At the July board meeting Trussville City Schools heard a student-led presentation of proposed logos for the district's 100th graduating class. Superintendent Dr. Martin introduced seniors Levi Buckner, Henry Donaldson and Angelina Daley as the student team behind the project; the students presented logo variations intended for banners and stickers across the district.
A student presenter described the design intent: "The 100 is the biggest component ... once someone sees it, on a banner beside the road, they wanna see, like, oh, that's the hundredth class right there." The students explained that the logo package highlights four guiding words—tradition, community, belonging and legacy—and showed how a husky head, a banner and the years 1927—2027 would appear in various color and inversion treatments for banners, stickers and signage.
Dr. Martin and other administrators noted that the design work was supported by Knight Eady and that sponsor Amarex covered the student design sessions and initial banner costs. Board members asked whether the district has a schedule of centennial events; presenters and administrators said student leaders and student government will work through details and that additional planning is underway.
The presentation concluded with board members thanking the students and noting the project will move forward with further student input and administrative coordination.
What they said
"We started by working with Knight Eady to talk about what elements they would like to see in the logo and then vetted those elements through a logo presentation," Dr. Martin said, introducing the student team.
