Sheriff's office and CHP outline safety patrols, community events for El Rio

Senior Deputy Helm of the Ventura County Sheriff's Office told the El Rio/Del Norte Municipal Advisory Council on Oct. 16 that the department will hold a community event at Rio Plaza Elementary on Nov. 8 and that the office is reallocating resources for increased traffic enforcement on U.S. 101 and Pacific Coast Highway after the county received a new state grant.
Sergeant Untalan of the California Highway Patrol said CHP officers will staff a Trunk-or-Treat event at Rio Plaza Elementary and described coordinated plans for greater presence on regional corridors. Senior Deputy Helm also said the radar unit currently on Rose Avenue will be moved soon to support enforcement where traffic concerns have been raised. Captain Robert Davidson was listed among law-enforcement attendees for the meeting.
The announcements were framed as community-safety and outreach efforts tied to upcoming local events. The officials did not propose new local ordinances or solicit votes; their remarks were delivered as informational updates and event notices to the council and the public.
