Tecumseh adopts One and Six Year Street Improvement Plan and appoints street superintendent for 2026

Council Member Lorie Topp moved to adopt the One and Six Year Plan; Alicia Brommer seconded the motion. The motion carried with Council Members Lance Beethe, Brian Britt, Alicia Brommer, Tyler Speckmann and Lorie Topp voting aye and Travis Goracke absent. The plan sets the city’s prioritized street projects for the near term and the following five years.
Council also approved the year-end certification of the City Street Superintendent form on a motion by Tyler Speckmann, seconded by Brian Britt. Following that vote, the council voted to appoint Matt Schaardt as the City’s Street Superintendent for the term Jan. 1, 2026 through Dec. 31, 2026; the appointment was moved by Lorie Topp and seconded by Lance Beethe and passed unanimously among the members present.
The Streets Superintendent, Doug Goracke, had reported on ongoing work including design work on Arrowhead Drive, pothole repairs and winter preparations. The council’s actions complete the formal planning and personnel steps needed to proceed with the city’s near-term street projects.
