Laurel School District board approves routine agenda items, personnel recommendations and PSAT schedule

The Laurel School District Board of Education approved a slate of routine agenda items and personnel recommendations at its public meeting, adjourning at 7:23 p.m.
The board opened by adopting the agenda and approving the Jan. 15, 2025 meeting minutes after motions were moved and seconded and each named member recorded approval. Chair (S1) recommended approval “as submitted,” and the board recorded roll-call approvals for each item.
Board members approved grouped school-choice renewals and fundraiser requests, and granted multiple facility-use permits. Approvals included recurring use of the agriculture room and cafeteria for Laurel FFA alumni meetings (Mar–Jul 2025), a retroactive request to host an esports online competition at Laurel Middle School (Feb–May 2025) and auditorium use for the Laurel Women’s Civic Club pageant (rehearsals May 9–10, 2025). The esports and FFA facility motions included fee and custodial arrangements as stated in the agenda packet.
The board also approved a package of professional trips and set the PSAT testing schedule: freshmen will take the PSAT on March 12, 2025; the board approved asynchronous instruction for 10th–12th graders that day to accommodate testing.
A personnel report arising from the meeting’s executive session was approved in three attachments: Attachment A covering professional personnel, Attachment B covering support staff and Attachment C addressing coaching positions. Each attachment was moved, seconded and approved on roll call; the board’s minutes list each member as recording "Approve."
Chair (S1) presented two policies for first reading — GCBD (criminal-history information) and CRMAA — noting both are posted on the district website and available at district buildings for community review. The disciplinary-matrix revision was presented for second reading and approved on roll call.
The board set its next regular meeting for Wednesday, March 19 at 7 p.m. in the Long Middle High School cafeteria and then adjourned.
