Custer County Board approves routine claims, interlocal agreement and fiber right-of-way permits

CUSTER COUNTY — The Custer County Board of Supervisors on June 23 approved routine claims across several county funds, authorized an interlocal cooperation payment, and cleared multiple right-of-way permits for underground fiber construction.

At the start of the meeting, Chairperson Blowers announced the Open Meeting Laws posting and called the session to order. On a motion by Gibbons, seconded by Kleeb, the board approved General Fund claims, which the minutes list with salary, benefits and itemized vendor charges. Separate motions approved the Road Fund and Communications Fund claims and vendor invoices; all were carried by roll call votes recorded as “Ayes—all.”

The board also approved a Road Buy Back Fund claim for Ace Irrigation & Manufacturing ($92,394.05) and a Repurposing CDBG Housing Fund transfer of $186.35. A motion by Govier, seconded by Markham, approved the Road Buy Back payment; that motion carried on a roll call vote recorded as Ayes—all.

The board approved an Interlocal Cooperation Agreement with the Sargent Airport Authority in the amount of $2,500 on a motion by Markham, seconded by Longmore. The board also approved multiple cross-county right-of-way applications for Great Plains Communications to install underground 24-fiber optic conduit and pedestals, and for Viaero Fiber Networks LLC to install conduit at the Custer County Fairgrounds; each project was approved by motion and roll call vote.

T. Walz, Extension Agent, presented the proposed FY2026–27 Extension Budget and noted the proposal contained no raises; the board received the presentation and no formal vote on the budget was recorded in the minutes.

The board set its next regular meeting for July 14, 2026, and adjourned the session later in the day.
