Random Lake Personnel Committee approves minutes, holds closed session on employee matters and schedules review

The Village of Random Lake Personnel Committee met March 23, 2026, at 4:16 p.m. at 96 Russell Drive. Chair Barbara Ruege presided; members Dave Borchardt and Jamie Vorpahl were present, along with Clerk/Treasurer Stephanie Waala and DPW staff.
The committee unanimously approved the Dec. 3, 2025, and Feb. 2, 2026 minutes after a motion by Member Dave Borchardt and a second from Member Jamie Vorpahl. The vote carried 3-0.
Shortly after, Member Borchardt moved and Member Vorpahl seconded a motion to enter closed session at 4:17 p.m. under Wis. Stat. 19.85(1)(c) "considering employment, promotion, compensation, or performance evaluation data of any public employee" to discuss an employee review and an employee incident; the motion carried 3-0. The committee reconvened to open session at 5:09 p.m. following a motion by Member Borchardt and a second by Member Vorpahl; that motion also passed 3-0.
Committee minutes record that the closed session produced no recommendation to the Village Board. During open session Clerk/Treasurer Stephanie Waala updated the committee on proposed ordinance changes to trustee and village president salaries, saying the village attorney completed further review and that the ordinances will be brought to the Village Board on April 6 for additional consideration.
Waala also noted that employee David Tisler is due for a 90-day review in April; the committee set the review for April 27 at 4:15 p.m. Other items flagged for the next Personnel Committee meeting included a discussion of summer hours and program ideas; Village Hall and DPW staff were assigned to develop proposals.
The committee adjourned at 5:54 p.m. The Village Board will take up the proposed salary ordinance changes April 6; the Personnel Committee will meet April 27 for the scheduled 90-day employee review.
