Random Lake board unanimously approves downtown road reconstruction and rail-crossing work

The Random Lake Village Board voted 7-0 on March 18 to begin a downtown road reconstruction program in 2026, selecting a hard-surface downtown option the Public Works Committee had recommended.
Village Engineer Mustafa Emir told the board the committee had reviewed three project options last year and unanimously recommended starting with the downtown project, which includes estimated engineering, water and sewer cost breakdowns. Emir said the village will coordinate with the railroad to rebuild the 1st and 2nd Street crossings and expects a discount on engineering because the county will serve as the main contractor and require less village oversight.
Trustee Dave Borchardt asked how financing would be structured; President Duane Urbanski said the municipal advisor Ehlers would present funding options and a breakdown of funding types at a later meeting. Trustee Blaine Werner moved to approve the recommendation; Trustee Dave Borchardt seconded and the motion passed 7-0.
The board did not adopt final contract documents or identify specific funding sources at the meeting; Ehlers is expected to present financing details in a future session.
