Hoehne R-3 board approves multiple hires, Chromebooks, concrete and cafeteria seating contracts

Personnel: The board approved multiple personnel motions: rehiring candidate A as a CDL substitute bus driver; hiring assistant coaches A–C and approving two assistant coaches to split pay; hiring candidate A as junior high cross-country coach and candidate A as high school cross-country coach; hiring candidate A as secondary math teacher and candidate A as high-school E-Sports coach; and accepting Out-of-District Applicants 2026-2027-1 through 2026-2027-22. Approval of these items was moved and seconded by board members (motions recorded in the minutes) and each passed unanimously by roll call.
Facilities and equipment: The board accepted a concrete bid from Central Colorado Concrete for $107,000 (motion by Brad Mincic, seconded by Todd Arnhold). The board also approved the Cafeteria Seating Project bid from OS Schools not to exceed $48,120 (motion by Brad Mincic, seconded by Renee Monohan). During the facilities update the superintendent reported two bids had been received for replacement of the wastewater generator; the minutes do not list the vendor names or amounts for those generator bids.
Technology: After questions from board members about web filtering and device longevity, Austin Burson of WyoIT answered technical questions. The board approved purchase of 120 HP Fortis Glm rugged Chromebooks and 10 device tabletop charging stations from EdgeTek, not to exceed $44,000 (motion by Todd Arnhold, seconded by Jess Cannon). The minutes record EdgeTek as the lowest bid for additional devices to improve testing efficiency.
Athletics/programming: The board approved incorporation of 6th grade into the junior high sports program for 2026–27 (motion passed unanimously), and several coaching hires were approved as noted above.
Next steps: Superintendent Mack will distribute copies of the bus purchase bids to board members for review; the minutes note one bus (Bus #8) has transmission failure and the district expects one bus to age out annually.
