Coquille School District approves Division 22 standards, personnel hires and resignations

At its Sept. 11 meeting the Coquille School District Board approved Division 22 standards and a consent agenda that included donations, numerous hiring approvals and several staff resignations.

Director Heather Echavarria moved to approve the Division 22 Standards; Cliff Wheeler seconded and the board approved the item, according to the minutes. The consent agenda (items 8.1–8.21) was approved on a single motion moved by Heather Echavarria and seconded by Marsha Frost. The consent items as recorded in the minutes include non‑cash and cash donations; the hiring of education assistants and other staff (including Willow Etienne; Savanah Cochran; Kelsey Martin; Elizabeth Kirkey; Tanner Flood; Alli Hubbell; Nicole Weeks; Garrett Stout; Heidi Haga (transfer); Val Bergstedt; Halle Layton; Nate Leslie; Melissa Coplin; Cassandra Hardmen; Karen Ashby); and resignations by Zarina Orr, Claire Mullanix and Colleen Teal. The board also approved Amended Resolution No. 24‑11 (Intrafund Transfer).

Superintendent Wayne Gallagher reported on summer improvements around the district and told the board the district revised its enrollment figure used for state budgeting: it had budgeted for 1,250 students but adjusted the state‑reported number to 1,220 due to lower actual enrollment. Gallagher also noted two emails received in the past month: one asking why meeting minutes were not on the district website (the matter was resolved) and another from Jeff Green, principal at Mount Scott Elementary, commending staff members Tanya Sinko and Armando Ruiz.
