Pleasanton council asks consultant to prepare engineering contract for water-plant roof repairs

The Pleasanton City Council on Feb. 11 asked BG Consultants to prepare an engineering services contract to begin repairs on the filter-building roof at the city’s water plant.
Mayor Mathew Young called the special meeting to order at 6:00 p.m. at Pleasanton City Hall, saying the meeting’s purpose was to discuss the roof at the water plant and to receive an update on the city’s ADA Transition Plan. Jason Hoskinson of BG Consultants presented several options for temporarily shoring up the roof and for a permanent repair plan.
Following Hoskinson’s recommendations, the council reached a consensus to have BG Consultants draft a contract for engineering services to start the repair process; Hoskinson was asked to have the contract ready for consideration at the next regular council meeting. City Administrator/Clerk Becky Hegwald was directed to investigate funding and grant options to pay for the stabilization and repairs.
No formal contract was approved at the meeting; the council’s direction was to prepare the engineering agreement and return it for formal approval. The motion to adjourn was made by Council member Schreckhise, seconded by Council member Wills, and carried unanimously. The meeting adjourned at 6:42 p.m.
Next steps: BG Consultants will prepare the engineering-services contract for the council’s review and Hegwald will report back on potential funding sources at a future meeting.
