East Hampton capital update: Playhouse roof, docks and multi‑court pickleball project advance

Work under way or recently finished includes a roof membrane covering at the highway department, near‑completion of the sanitation demo/debris lean‑to pending paving, bulkhead replacement and tie‑back installation at West Lake dock, and the completed Maidstone Park playground rebuild. Pincott said the Montauk Playhouse roof replacement is in progress — contractors have replaced sections and will install a new fall‑restraint system anchored to roof ridges; he estimated completion by early‑to‑mid September.
Pincott described the Fred W. Thiele Jr. recreational facility project as an installation of eight tournament‑size pickleball courts and an NCAA‑regulation basketball court, with fencing (4‑foot between pickleball courts; 10‑foot for basketball separation), picnic pavilion and paved paths. He said the orientation chosen allows three courts to fit on site rather than two and that concessions such as existing septic locations and electrical runs constrained other layouts. Land Tech is expected to begin work in September, with subcontractors mobilizing earlier for utility and irrigation connections.
Pincott also reviewed the Carl Fisher House and Peach Farmhouse restorations (window and siding work, ADA access), noted upcoming generator/fuel‑farm plans for the playhouse with revised tank design under review by Suffolk County Health Department, and listed a pipeline of projects including airport fuel‑farm upgrades, police HVAC improvements, and park expansions.
Council members asked about storm‑rating for Playhouse shelter capacity; Pincott said he would follow up with Red Cross findings and provide more detail. The board thanked him for ongoing weekly updates and for coordinating with foundations and contractors.
