District staff presented the Student Investment Account (SIA) and High School Success (HSS) funding plans during the Jan. 17 board meeting. Tanya Sinko said the HSS program’s main goal is to have 100% of ninth-graders on track to graduate and 75% of seniors complete college- and career-readiness activities; the HSS allocation discussed at the meeting was approximately $444,000.
Sinko described proposed SIA allocations totaling slightly more than $1.27 million to support roughly 8.06 full-time-equivalent positions across preschool to third grade priorities and social-emotional support. The package includes two academic counselors (Ms. Allred and Ms. Snively), a social-emotional counselor, a cosmetology/CTE teacher, another CTE teacher, a school nurse, two paraprofessionals and a pre-K educational assistant; the district said SIA funds will be used to target grade-level math proficiency and improved attendance for focal groups, including Indian Education, special education and McKinney-Vento students.
Board action: The SIA/HSS plan was included in Discussion/Action items 8.1–8.5, approved by unanimous motion. District staff said the plans include longitudinal growth goals and are part of state-required reporting and accountability tied to the grants.
What it means: If implemented, the staffing increases and program supports would expand intervention, counseling and CTE offerings. The minutes record salary and FTE allocations as planning figures; the board approved the plan to meet state requirements and access allocated funds.
