Pleasanton council addresses community events, schedules budget work session and sets Easter compactor hours

At the Feb. 17 meeting the Pleasanton City Council heard several routine but locally relevant items: a request from the Pleasanton Area Chamber of Commerce to have the city take over General Pleasanton Days, scheduling of a budget work session, compactor holiday hours, and discussion of the student council representative selection.
Brianna Nichols of the Pleasanton Area Chamber told the council the Chamber would be willing to turn over notes and asked the City to assume organization of Pleasanton Days; she said she did not wish to remain involved in planning. Council discussed revenue and expense considerations and the possibility of the Chamber planning some years in partnership with the city.
The council set a budget work session for Monday, March 30, at 6:00 p.m. It was the consensus of the council to close the compactor on Easter Sunday, April 5, and to open Wednesday, April 8, if staff can cover the day. Discussions about the student council representative resolution ended with the council choosing not to amend the resolution; student representative Erin Bowley said she wanted to be included in selecting her replacement and John Bowley said he would recuse himself from any relevant discussion or vote.
These items were discussed as part of general new business and scheduling; no binding fiscal commitments or ordinance changes were made on these items at the meeting.
