Council reappoints two budget committee members and adopts Ordinance 2026‑001

At its Feb. 3 meeting, the Jacksonville City Council reappointed two members to the budget committee and adopted an ordinance amending local code.
Staff reported that both Brian Barr and Dane Johnson asked to be reconsidered for reappointment to the budget committee; because neither could attend the meeting, staff recommended reappointment. Councilor Gregg moved and a second was received; the council approved the reappointments by roll‑call vote with all members voting yes.
On the agenda’s final item, the council conducted a second reading by title only of Ordinance 2026‑001, which amends section 12.20.0.030 of the Jacksonville Municipal Code. Staff recommended approval; there was no public comment. Council moved, took a roll‑call vote and adopted the ordinance unanimously.
Earlier in the meeting the council also approved the bills list for Feb. 3 after brief questions about a cemetery fund reimbursement item; staff said the item is handled under the volunteer insurance/policy. The meeting adjourned at 6:20 p.m.
