Jacksonville council approves liquor license, sells surplus fire engine and signs off on festival date

The council approved an OLCC liquor‑license application for Brickline Pizza Company at 150 South Oregon Street after staff reported no concerns from the police chief. Councilor Andrea Thompson moved the approval and Councilor Steve Casaleggio seconded; the vote was unanimous among members present.
The council also declared Fire Engine 19 surplus and approved its sale to Applegate Fire District for $15,000 to recover value while supporting a neighboring district. "The proposed sale allows the city to recoup value from the apparatus while supporting a neighboring fire district," staff said.
Staff presented and the council approved the 2026 organizational chart and completed a slate of committee reappointments and mayoral liaison assignments, including appointments to the cemetery committee, the Historic and Architectural Review Commission and the transient‑lodging tax committee.
Abby McGee (transcribed also as "McKee"), who identified herself as the Britt/Bridal organization representative, asked the council to activate at least one shoulder‑season date to accommodate touring schedules. Councilors approved a single shoulder‑season event on Sept. 30, 2026, citing the time‑sensitivity of a touring act's January announcement.
The council conducted a first reading of an ordinance to amend sidewalk‑repair responsibilities in Jacksonville Municipal Code chapter 12.20.030; the second reading and adoption are scheduled for Feb. 3, 2026.
Elections and administrative business included the selection of Councilor Andrea Thompson as council president for 2026 and the Jacksonville Urban Renewal Agency's election of Steve Casaleggio as its president during a brief post‑council meeting session.
