The Jacksonville City Council on Feb. 3 approved a large event packet submitted by Cycle Oregon Rally after staff and organizers made changes requested during a previous work session, including adding a map of the event footprint and clarifying pre‑event and during‑event contacts.
Ashley, representing the event organizers, told the council the packet was updated to reflect council recommendations and added a schedule and contact plan addressing noise, parking, sanitation and alcohol operations. Ashley said the organizers added both a pre‑event contact (her) and a during‑event contact (Chris) in the neighbors’ letter.
A nearby resident, Penny Veets, spoke in support, saying the prior event was “well run, well organized” and that she and her neighbors had no objections. Councilors thanked the organizers for making the requested changes. Following a motion and second, the council approved the large event packet by roll‑call vote with all members voting yes.
Council and organizers said the packet included pre‑event and during‑event contacts and a map so neighbors could see the exact footprint; staff will monitor compliance with operational commitments during the event.
