Mesilla approves home‑occupation license for non‑alcohol mobile bar service 'Wondering Waterhole'

The Mesilla Planning, Zoning and Historical Appropriateness Commission on Oct. 6 approved a home‑occupation business license for Melissa Harris to operate Wondering Waterhole, a mobile bartending service that will not dispense alcohol while operating from a Mesilla residence.
CED Eddie Salazar summarized Business License #1412 and said the Environmental Department advised that because no food will be prepared in the mobile trailer, no inspection is required provided service uses disposable cups. Salazar also said the New Mexico Regulation and Licensing Department (RLD) does not regulate the business because the applicant will not be supplying alcohol—the service is categorized as a business service.
Commissioner Lori Miller moved to approve the home‑occupation license and Commissioner Rosemary Alvillar seconded; the motion passed 4‑0. The license allows the applicant to operate the mobile service as a home‑based business subject to any applicable town home‑occupation conditions.
