District reports completed capital projects, seeks community members for facilities committee

The Director of Business Services reported that three major capital projects — pavement repair/striping, playground updates and related site work — are complete and that work such as library carpet replacement and a new dishwasher installation have been finished.
"Pavement looks great. Everything's complete," the director said, and noted that the paving work came in about 8% over budget because additional base material was needed in localized areas.
The director invited community members with experience in building trades, engineering or architecture to join a capital-improvement committee to review a Findorff site study, prioritize projects in a 10-year plan and advise on sequencing. Board members discussed outreach channels such as the local chamber of commerce and social media to recruit volunteers.
Board members also discussed resilience measures following a recent power outage, including generator options, battery backups and sensor-based monitoring for critical equipment. The superintendent and facilities staff said they will examine options and funding pathways.
Next steps: administration will update the capital plan, pursue community recruitment for the committee, and return a proposed committee structure and recommended priorities to the board.
