North Bay Village plans Music in the Park (Sept. 21) and Spooktacular carnival (Oct. 30)

Organizers for North Bay Village presented layouts and activity plans for two upcoming community events: Music in the Park on Saturday, Sept. 21 from 6 to 8 p.m., and a Spooktacular carnival proposed for Wednesday, Oct. 30.
Lily, the events presenter, said Music in the Park will be festival-style with multiple performance areas, a kids zone (DJ and foam pit), an acoustic area, face painting and food vendors, and she shared a flyer and field layout with board members. "Music in the Park is all set. It's gonna be on Saturday, September 21 from 6 to 8PM," she said.
For Halloween, Lily described a carnival plan that would include a 27-foot fair slide, a Jurassic Park–themed obstacle course, pop-up carnival games with small prizes for all children, a costume contest and staffed trick-or-treat stations. She said a food vendor that makes caramel apples and carnival-style food has agreed to participate and could also return for a Winter Wonderland event.
Board members suggested complementary attractions and fundraising ideas. Members discussed the cost of some winter attractions (real ice rinks and artificial snow can be expensive) and suggested lower-cost options such as snow cones, hot chocolate and a trackless train in the parking lot. Amy, covering staff duties while in training, confirmed programming coverage for two movie nights, a Veterans Day lunch and a Day of the Dead event.
Next steps: Lily will confirm specific vendor offerings and costs, and the board will continue event planning at future meetings. Several members noted scheduling conflicts for Wednesday events and the board set the next meeting for Oct. 8.
