Sewer pumps installed as CDBG-DR work advances; town cites near-term completion

Town Clerk Ben Tew updated the Noma Town Council on multiple grant-funded infrastructure projects at the Sept. 2 meeting.
On the CDBG-DR sewer project, materials are now on site and lift station pumps were being installed on Sept. 2. Tew reported the treatment plant was roughly 50% complete while sewer line installation was about 90% complete and stated the town expects full completion within about 90 days.
Tew also reported the CDBG-NR repaving grant had been extended to July 2026; plans are under review by FloridaCommerce and advertising for bids will follow plan approval. The USDA well project was reported as having housing and three-phase electrical work completed. For MSCOP side street paving, the town has received an agreement and Notice to Proceed, but CCNA certification is required before design work can move forward.
The council did not take a formal vote on these reports but recorded the updates and noted follow-up requirements, such as FloridaCommerce approval for repaving bids and CCNA certification for side-street design. The Clerk’s report places near-term completion of sewer work as the most time-sensitive item for operations and subsequent billing and maintenance planning.
The council directed staff on several non-vote follow-ups, including continuing coordination with grant administrators and preparing for upcoming procurement steps once approvals are granted.
