A police official described the department’s recent recruitment, highlighting that new staff include an officer from the Plantation Police Department and personnel already living in North Bay Village. The official said officers were selected after a “rigorous search” and praised their early contributions, including a credited life-saving CPR response at a nursing home.
Jessica Rojas Polanco, who was introduced by the police official, accepted the recognition and said she was “truly honored to be part of the North Bay Village Police Department” and to serve residents. The official added that Polanco had supported the department’s accreditation effort, coordinated community events and represented the agency at regional events.
The commission offered congratulations; a resident who spoke during the open forum, Doris Acosta, also praised Polanco and noted her participation in the Optimist Club.
The recognition occurred during the meeting’s presentations; no formal action was required for the award.
