Legal counsel told the board that a proposed solar law and revisions to the town's farm-stand code will be scheduled for public hearings at an upcoming meeting.
"Solar law will be, more of a public hearing at 06:00" a member of legal said, adding that revisions to the farm-stand law were circulated and were intended to allow vendors who meet New York State production or licensing requirements to operate without being cited under the old code. The legal representative said they had made changes to the farm-stand law and recommended a public hearing to let residents comment.
During discussion members raised related zoning concerns about accessory barns and setbacks. Several board members suggested establishing consistent setback requirements and considering limits on barn sizes for small lots. One member said limiting barns larger than roughly 24 feet on small parcels should be considered; another noted the farm-stand changes had previously required re-advising the code to align with state regulations.
The board agreed to place both the solar law and the farm-stand revisions on a future agenda for public hearings and directed staff to circulate the revised draft so members and the public can review the changes in advance.
The board did not adopt any ordinance at this meeting; the items were placed for public hearing and further deliberation.
