Indian Hills council accepts financial and police reports, discusses potholes and a spring cleanup
Summary
At its March 19 meeting, the Indian Hills City Council accepted the February financial report (subject to questions at the April meeting), received a police report noting six crimes and two arrests, discussed potholes on local streets, and asked the Environment Committee to recruit cleanup volunteers for April.
Attorney Finn Cato called the meeting to order at 6:00 p.m. and Councilor Kay Matton moved that Councilor John Harralson preside in Mayor Chip Hancock's absence; the motion carried with no opposition.
On finance, Councilor John Harralson reported the budget is on track except for previously noted overages on snow removal and ice-related expenses. Councilor Kay Matton moved to accept the February financial report as emailed and to approve February city and police checks disbursed, subject to any questions at the April meeting; the motion was seconded by Councilor Lee Garlove and carried with no opposition.
Police Chief Kelly Spratt's report listed six crimes, four traffic collisions and two criminal arrests or citations for the reporting period and included year-to-date statistics.
Public Works discussion noted that Gerard Ackermann will assist Public Works Director Jim Graven. Councilors discussed potholes on Indian Hills Trail and Clarks Point and were advised that potholes on Metro Louisville streets such as Blankenbaker Lane should be reported to 502.574.5000.
Other reports: no waste-management report was given. Councilor Lee Maddox reported no Environment Committee business, and Councilor Bob Astorino suggested the committee solicit volunteers for a city cleanup day in April.
Councilor Bob Astorino moved to adjourn the meeting at 6:31 p.m.; Councilor Kay Matton seconded and none opposed. The next meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, April 16, 2025, at 6:00 p.m. at the Louisville Boat Club.
