Indian Hills council accepts December financials; discusses trash service, tree program and communications

The City of Indian Hills council accepted the December financial report and approved city and police disbursements at its Jan. 15, 2025 Zoom meeting.

Councilor Laura Dunbar presented the December financial report. Councilor Kay Matton moved to accept the report and approve the December disbursements; Councilor Lee Maddox seconded and the motion passed with "none opposed," according to the minutes.

Police Chief Kelly Spratt told the council the December report included six crimes and three traffic-collision reports with no criminal arrests or citations. Mayor Chip Hancock and Public Works representative Jim Graven reported that Rumpke will resume trash services on Thursday and that crews will attempt to collect overflow but some back-door pickups may be missed if driveways remain uncleared.

Councilor Lee Maddox said he delivered the invoice for the residential Tree Program to City Clerk Donna M. Sinkhorn for processing. During council comments, Councilor Ann Dreisbach commended Mayor Hancock and police for their response during the Jan. 5 snowstorm and reiterated a prior suggestion that the city prepare an article about council activities to improve transparency and help recruit candidates for future elections. The council discussed updating the city's dated website and the possible creation of an official Facebook page; Councilor John Harralson referenced Rolling Fields as an example.

The meeting adjourned at 6:46 p.m.; the next regular meeting is scheduled for Feb. 19, 2025 at the Louisville Boat Club.
