Residents press CDD on trees, curbs and meeting microphones; staff report operations updates

Residents used both the agenda and public-comment portions of the Oct. 15 Heritage Pines CDD meeting to raise several community maintenance and meeting-access concerns.

Resident Bruce Harris asked who is responsible for trees on the golf course; HPCA General Manager Herb Hurley and Grounds Superintendent Tim Gatz said they are and Hurley offered to speak with Harris after the meeting. Joyce Welsh reported crumbling curbs in front of her home and asked about landscape storm-debris removal; Chair Kathleen Lonergan asked her to give her address to District Engineer Kurt Heath for inspection and it was noted debris removal is underway.

Tim Sweeney asked about using microphones during meetings; Lonergan said she had submitted the request and Gatz asked to be copied on emails about it. Resident Susan Napolitano questioned whether awarding contracts to the lowest-priced bidder is best practice; Adams responded that he has worked with Premier Lakes and considers their service superior to SOLitude. Assistant Secretary Janice Benedetti reported a resident called about mosquito control; she said the technician treated the area the next day and identified significant issues on that particular pond. Board members discussed that some residents and builders had installed sprinklers in lakes and suggested informing the community so residents can decide whether to install and pay for future maintenance.

Operations items reported by staff included a check on whether an additional bench had been installed at Paleo Park and confirmation that mowing of certain retention areas has been adjusted. Grounds Superintendent Gatz confirmed he would follow up on outstanding items and coordinate inspections as requested by supervisors and residents.
