Indian Hills council: minutes approved; part‑time police hiring postponed; annexation receives first reading

The City of Indian Hills City Council took several administrative actions at its April 16 meeting.
Councilor Kay Matton moved to approve the March 19, 2025 minutes as emailed; Councilor Bob Astorino seconded and the motion passed with no opposition. Councilor Matton also moved to accept the March financial report and to approve March city and police checks disbursed; Councilor David Ferguson seconded and the motion passed.
In other business, Councilor Matton moved to postpone Municipal Order No. 2, Series 2025 (the hiring of a part‑time police officer) to an indefinite period; Councilor Astorino seconded and no opposition was recorded. Councilor Laura Dunbar introduced Ordinance No. 2, Series 2025 (annexation — Federal Hill Road) and Attorney Finn Cato gave the first reading; no final action on the ordinance occurred at the meeting.
Mayor Hancock reported that Public Works Director Jim Graven will retire no later than June 30 and that Gerard Ackermann is assisting him in the interim. The mayor also suggested the Environment Committee provide landscaping guidance to residents undertaking large projects and said the city will need someone to issue permits for large construction projects; LuAnn George provided the name of a possible candidate who works in Metro Planning & Zoning.
Councilor Matton moved to adjourn at 7:00 p.m.; Councilor John Harralson III seconded and none opposed. The next meeting is scheduled for May 21, 2025 at the Louisville Boat Club.
