Planning board recommends council adopt updated 2026–2030 capital improvements schedule, flags stormwater funding

The Mexico Beach Planning & Zoning Board voted on Nov. 3 to recommend that City Council adopt an updated capital improvements schedule (Table 9.2) reflecting the city’s fiscal-year budget for 2026–2030.
Laura told the board the table update is limited to identifying capital projects that relate to level-of-service standards and, so long as only the table is changed, the revision is not treated as a comprehensive-plan amendment that requires state agency review. Several members supported forwarding the updated table as presented but asked for clarification on a line that listed stormwater improvements with an "unidentified" funding source.
A member said the city has spent significant funds on engineering and design studies and asked staff to confirm where construction funding would come from. The board moved to recommend adoption of the updated Table 9.2; the motion passed on the recorded roll call with the transcript recording votes of Miss Logan, Mister Kreece, Mister Van Richten and Mister Kerrigan in the affirmative.
The recommendation will be presented to City Council for final action; staff was asked to report back on identified funding sources for the stormwater items before or when the council considers the table.
