Commissioners plan resolution to name Stoughton Road bridge for late county engineer William Humphrey

If the resolution is adopted, the board plans a public dedication ceremony at the bridge on Thursday, Sept. 24; the Chair said the community will also honor Humphrey at the Newcastle "Salute to Courage" dinner the night before. No vote occurred on July 21; the Chair framed the report as an advance notice of a forthcoming formal action.
The Chair described Humphrey as a county engineer who worked closely with the commissioners on county-owned bridge maintenance and said the naming would recognize his contributions. The board did not identify specific funding or maintenance obligations tied to the naming; the Chair said the item will return as a formal resolution for the board to vote on.
