Policy committee reports BoardDocs platform change; state 'bell-to-bell' cell phone ban moves to Senate

At the June 11 North Hills Board of Education meeting, the Policy & Legislation committee reported it had discussed upcoming policy reviews and a planned switch in the public agenda and policy platform to BoardDocs, with trainings available via PSBA notices.
"We use BoardDocs for agenda and policies, and there's going to be some changes to the software coming up," the committee member said, noting training information is being shared in PSBA email notices. The committee member said the changes should not significantly affect public access but that the district would keep the public informed about the new platform.
On state legislation, the chair provided a brief update: "Just quickly wanted to note that the bell to bell, cell phone ban made its way through the house again and is in the senate right now. Ultimately, it's expected that some sort of legislation will probably be passed that is tied in with the budget. But, no actual action updates at this time." The board member who was asked to give the federal legislative report said there is no pending federal legislation to report.
No formal votes were taken on policy changes or legislative matters at the meeting. The board did not take public comment and adjourned after routine business.
