The City of Richmond Planning Commission voted May 28 to recommend that the City Council approve a variance reducing the rear setback at 748 1st Street from 15 feet to 9 feet 4 inches to allow construction of an approximately 3,000-square-foot warehouse.
City planner Kendra Ellner presented the application and explained why a public hearing was required. Ellner told commissioners the application is consistent with the city’s comprehensive plan and summarized the owner’s proposal for a warehouse at the site. Marvin Bloch, identified in the meeting attendance as owner of Imperial Machine and a property stakeholder at 748 1st Street SE, was listed among attendees.
After closing the public hearing, the Planning Commission moved to recommend approval of the variance to the City Council. The motion was recorded in the transcript as made by Commissioner Chuck Merten and the transcript states the motion passed; the transcript does not record a roll-call vote or a clear second on the motion.
The recommendation now goes to the Richmond City Council for final action. The transcript does not specify a council hearing date for the variance.
