Commission reports sold-out Kentucky opioid symposium; staff outlines funding timelines and application window

The chair opened staff updates by welcoming new commission staff member Julianne Hatton and by thanking commissioners and presenters who participated in the symposium. "The event was sold out," the chair said, and staff cited positive reviews of panels and the Hall of Grantees, which showcased the work of 2023 grantees.
In grant-administration announcements, staff said prevention, treatment and recovery funding will be issued as separate notices of funding this year to reflect commission priorities. Staff gave these key dates: an official announcement is anticipated on Nov. 18; the application window would run from Dec. 2, 2024, through Jan. 17, 2025, with the application deadline listed as Jan. 17, 2025, at 6 p.m. Award decisions are expected in late March or April 2025, and contracts would be executed in July 2025.
Staff said they will work with commissioners to schedule application review in January and March and highlighted a separate request-for-information solicitation that remains open through Dec. 2. Commissioners thanked staff for organizing the symposium and the Hall of Grantees, which several called a highlight of the event.
No public comments were received during the meeting, and the commission adjourned after finishing business.
