Chairman Neubauer presided over the Panama City Planning Board on July 20, when the board approved a variance to allow a carport in the front yard at a house staff listed as 1919 Bridal Drive.
The request, described in staff’s presentation as a variance from the 20-foot front setback to allow a 16-foot setback, was made on behalf of property owner Stephanie Marshall by applicant Tim Clark. Clark identified himself on the record and confirmed he had been sworn earlier.
Planning staff introduced the application and said the proposed carport would be located on the northwest side of the property “right by the street,” restoring the general footprint where an original garage once stood. Board members asked the applicant to clarify the exact direction and relationship to the street; Clark confirmed the northwest orientation and that the carport is essentially replacing a prior garage footprint.
No other speakers appeared in opposition or comment on the item. A motion to approve the variance was made, seconded and approved by a 3-0 roll call vote.
The staff report recorded the address as 1919 Bridal Drive; the applicant later referred to the property as 1919 Tindle Drive on the record. The transcript does not resolve that discrepancy; the address is recorded as stated in the staff presentation. The board did not identify any additional conditions or setbacks beyond the variance itself.
The board moved on to the next agenda item after the vote.
