The Metropolitan Transportation Licensing Commission approved a multi-item consent agenda that included new-company licenses for numerous passenger-vehicle-for-hire applicants and approved several existing-company reinstatements after late renewal filings.
A commissioner moved to approve a long slate of companies (including Nashville Ultimate Rides LLC, Music City Luxury Limo LLC, and many others), and the commission carried the motion by voice vote. Staff confirmed applicants met insurance and qualification requirements and noted the consent items had been reviewed.
On OPVH (existing company applications after failure to renew), staff recommended approval for applicants who had met requirements despite missing deadlines; the commission granted approvals for the named companies after a motion and second.
The commission discussed towing applications. Staff reported White Star Transportation LLC — doing business as Luxe Towing — had met the requirements for three permits and had no complaints in the year of operation; the commission approved their non-consent towing application for three permits.
Direct Towing LLC was pulled from the consent agenda because staff had not had the opportunity to inspect the vehicle. Staff explained: "All his paperwork is in order, but we haven't inspected the vehicle... That is the only thing that's left to do is for us to inspect the vehicle." (Staff member S1) Commissioners removed the item from consent and then approved the general-record new company application for one permit for Direct Towing LLC subject to staff's satisfactory inspection and with staff directed to return the matter if issues arise.
Earlier in the meeting the commissioners also elected a president pro tem to conduct the meeting after the chair and co-chair were absent; a motion nominated Annie Claver for the temporary presiding role and carried by voice vote.
Provenance: consent approvals, OPVH votes, White Star approval, and Direct Towing conditional approval were all recorded in the consent and business portions of the agenda.
