Mason County commissioners approve agenda, minutes and omnibus action agenda including warrants, grants and appointments

The Mason County commissioners voted July 21 to adopt the meeting agenda, approve minutes (with an amendment adding Pastor James Dale's last name) and approve an omnibus action agenda containing warrants, personnel items, grants and appointments.
Commissioner Randy Netherland moved to adopt the agenda; Chair Pat Carswell seconded. Chair Carlswell called for the vote and recorded two ayes; the motion carried.
During the reading of the action agenda, Chair Carlswell listed multiple financial warrants: clearing warrants totaling $733,414.27, direct deposit warrants totaling $985,494.67, salary clearing warrants of $1,293,775.81 and a treasury electronic remittance of $323,393.28. The agenda included approval for a temporary full-time senior deputy prosecutor FTE for four months for succession planning, Public Works authorization to issue a water leak credit of $4,512 for customer #303089 upon verification of repair, and a resolution rescinding Resolution 2026-029 to cancel a scheduled public hearing on road vacation number 427.
The action agenda also included approval to submit a WSU extension proposal to the Olympic Peninsula Resource Advisory Committee under the Secure Rural Schools Act; acceptance of a fiscal year 2025 Homeland Security Grant Program award of $19,508 from the Washington State Military Department and Department of Homeland Security for 09/01/2025'09/01/2027; appointments to the Wake Board Advisory Committee (Spencer Pruitt, James East, Art Whitson, Dave Meinert, David Meinert, Janet Harmon and Mike Jones); a letter of support for Island Enterprise Incorporated's FEMA BRIC subapplication; and a request under Mason County ordinance 06-18 for defense and indemnification in Bailey v. State of Washington (cause no. 26-200484-23) as assigned to county defendants.
Commissioner Netherland, who moved approval of the action agenda, told appointees to take their advisory roles seriously and said the board expects cooperation and constructive effort. Chair Carlswell seconded the motion; the board recorded two ayes and carried the omnibus approval.
The meeting then moved on to department head updates and other items.
