Board approves required update to Title I sexual-harassment grievance policy and advances several federal procurement and other policies

The Snake River School Board on May 20 approved a required second-reading update to Policy 3085P1, its Title I sexual-harassment grievance procedure, and advanced a package of first readings that address annual policy-review lists, electronic communications, copyright compliance and federal procurement standards.
The update to Policy 3085P1 removes language that previously directed decision-makers not to rely on testimony from a party or witness over age 10 who declined to submit to cross-examination; the minutes say that practice has been ruled unconstitutional and the required edits also include readability and typo corrections. Trustee Carol Hepworth moved approval of the second reading; Trustee Toni Ibarra seconded and the board voted 5-0.
The board also reviewed and approved first readings of Policy 1303 (annual review list), Policy 1405 (school board use of email and electronic communications), Policy 2150 and Procedure 2150P1 (copyright compliance), Policy 7400P3 and Policy 7400P4 (procurement standards under federal awards), Policy 7403 (procurement for school meal programs), Policy 7455 (federal debarment and suspension compliance), and Policy 8103 (vehicles other than school buses). Trustees approved the consolidated first-reading motion 5-0; the minutes describe which updates are required by federal rules and which are recommended.
