Trustees advance wide-ranging policy updates, including records and procurement changes

The Snake River School Board reviewed and approved a sizable set of policy updates covering ethics, school-year calendar, parent and family engagement, student discipline, health and safety, procurement and federal-award requirements.
Josh Sorensen moved (second by Larin Mortimer) to approve the listed policy reviews; the motion passed unanimously. Trustees also completed a second reading and approval of Policy 5740 (Reduction in Force) and the ISBA rubric for reductions, with Carol Hepworth moving and Toni Ibarra seconding. In addition, the board approved first readings of records-access updates (Policy 4260) to align with HB 253 and several procurement and federal-award policies (7400 series), among others. All policy motions recorded passed 5-0.
The Policy 4260 update was noted to implement differential timelines for in-state versus out-of-state public records requests as set out in HB 253. Several procurement policy updates clarify federal award requirements and conflict-of-interest standards. Trustees did not record substantive dissent; motions were unanimous.
