Snake River board authorizes superintendent to sign Jr. High lead-remediation grant documents

The board voted 5-0 to adopt an authorizing resolution that says the district intends to develop a project for drinking-water facilities at Snake River Jr. High in accordance with the Voluntary School and Child Care Lead Testing and Reduction Grant Program (SDWA 1464(d)). Superintendent Mark Kress told trustees he would like to be authorized as the district’s signing agent for the project if they approved the resolution.
The resolution states the project will determine facility needs related to health and safety and that project costs are eligible for grant funding. Trustee Larin Mortimer moved the resolution; Trustee Carol Hepworth seconded, and all five trustees voted aye.
District staff will proceed with applications and related documents as authorized by the board; the minutes do not specify a timeline for submitting grant applications or the anticipated grant amount.
