Superintendent Mark Kress told the board that Resin Architecture submitted a $306,000 engineering bid for a planned 6,300-square-foot weight room. Staff consulted a second qualified engineering firm, which provided an estimate of under $150,000—less than one-third of Resin's bid. Kress recommended rejecting Resin's proposal and pursuing the lower estimate.
The board voted unanimously to reject the $306,000 bid from Resin Architecture and to proceed with the second qualified firm. Trustee Larin Mortimer moved to reject the Resin bid and Trustee Josh Sorensen seconded; all trustees present voted aye.
