Board approves student activity fees for Snake River Opportunities High School after principal reports enrollment and program growth

At the Oct. 15 meeting Principal Scott Corgatelli briefed the Snake River School Board on Snake River Opportunities High School's program growth and asked the board to approve a corrected activity-fee structure.
Corgatelli said SROHS students earned 504 dual credits last year, an increase of 60 credits from the previous year. Enrollment stands at 234 students, up from 222 last October; he said about 30% of the student population is identified as at-risk or part of alternative programming. To bolster support the school recently added a social worker and an at-risk mentor and plans to add student success coaches.
Corgatelli explained that a budgeting error this year reduced student fees by about $300 per student; to address the shortfall, SROHS will temporarily reallocate a small portion of individual student accounts to the school activity fund for one year and correct the error in next year's budget. The board approved the student activity fees as presented: $25 per trimester for grades 7–11 and $50 per trimester for grade 12. The motion, moved by Josh Sorensen and seconded by Larin Mortimer, passed 4–0.
Trustees discussed Corgatelli's staffing additions and dual-credit expansion; no additional board action was taken at the Oct. 15 meeting beyond fee approval.
