Acton holds public hearing on Community Resilience Grant; projects suggested for culverts and dry hydrants

The Town of Acton held a public hearing July 8 on a Community Resilience Grant aimed at a Natural Hazard Vulnerability Assessment and hazard mitigation projects.
Phil Caruso, the town's Emergency Management Agency director, described Track 2 of the outreach program and outlined strategies for using grant funds and potential cost-sharing partnerships through the Community Resilience Program. He invited public input on project priorities and described current suggestions received from town officials.
Caruso said the Road Commissioner and Fire Chief had proposed potential projects such as installing dry hydrants and repairing or replacing culverts to reduce flood and erosion risks. He told the Select Board it will review the final project list, set project costs and finalize the grant application.
The public hearing opened at 6:03 p.m. and the Select Board closed the hearing at 6:18 p.m. after public input was heard.
