Ditzel said the FAA contends federal regulation substantially limits local fee obligations and that the agency lacks a line item to pay the county fee; she asked whether the board would consider waiving the county portion. "They basically said their issue is not with the inspection itself... but their issue is with paying the fee," Ditzel said.

On property enforcement, commissioners approved motions to remove or close long-standing condemnation files where appropriate and instructed staff to issue a 30-day letter to owners when initiating the condemnation process for the long-unfit property at County Road 200 North so the owner can present a remediation plan.
Ditzel and staff will forward the FAA paperwork and further legal documentation to county counsel for review and to the planning commission as appropriate.
