Woolwich Committee ratifies police union contract with amendment adding K-9 language and benefit-priority whereas

Following a closed session on contractual matters, the Woolwich Township Committee returned to public session and ratified Resolution R-2025-335, which ratifies a contract between the township and the Woolwich Township Policemen's Benevolent Association Local #122.

The committee first entered closed session at approximately 7:19 p.m. for discussion of the Police PBA contract. On return at about 8:04 p.m., Committeeman Frederick moved to amend the resolution in two places: (1) add the word "should" to Article 21, Section 1 (K-9 Unit) to read, in part, "Should the township agree to establish and maintain a K-9 unit," and (2) insert a whereas clause into the resolution noting that a more generous wage, salary and/or compensation schedule and medical benefits have been prioritized in the contract over health insurance upon retirement. Deputy Mayor Nocentino seconded the amendment; the amendment passed by unanimous roll call (Frederick, Minhas, Williams, Nocentino and Mayor Matthias voted yes).

After adopting the amendment, the committee adopted R-2025-335 as amended by unanimous roll call. The meeting minutes record the amendment language and the unanimous votes but do not specify additional contract financial details or term lengths in the public record excerpt.
