Ocean Springs planning panel approves two short‑term rental permits

The Ocean Springs Planning Commission on a routine vote recommended approval of two short‑term rental permits during its regular meeting.
Planning staff told the commission that the application for 145 Lafayette Circle (Arnold) was complete, the property passed inspection on Oct. 23, 2025, and the local property manager would be Katie Foreman, who resides within two miles of the city limits. Staff said the unit would be permitted for a maximum occupancy of six people and three vehicles and that no public feedback had been received as of Nov. 7. Danny Foreman, the proposed property manager, told the commission he lives inside the city and will be on call “24/7” to respond to issues.
For 614 Clark Avenue (Gregory Williams), staff reported the property is in an HOA, inspections on Oct. 22, 2025, found one bedroom unfurnished and the fire marshal approved a maximum occupancy of four (applicant requested six). Staff said the liability insurance submitted does not exclude short‑term rentals. An applicant representative said a long‑term tenant currently occupies the third bedroom; the applicant may reapply for a six‑person permit after that lease ends. Staff said the application met submittal requirements.
Both matters were opened for public hearing. No speakers opposed either permit at the meetings, commissioners closed the hearings, and the panel approved the recommendations by voice vote.
The approvals move forward under the city’s short‑term rental process: 145 Lafayette Circle will proceed under annual renewal and compliance with the City of Ocean Springs STR ordinance; 614 Clark Avenue was placed on the BOA consent agenda for their review.
Minutes and administrative record entries related to the hearings (including written correspondence received after the agenda was posted) were entered into the public record, per staff. The commission’s action on permits at this meeting was procedural; final enforcement and annual renewals will follow the city’s permitting and inspection schedule.
