Myrtle Creek awards $3,000 grant to Whisker Warriors for feral cat spay-and-neuter work

City Administrator Lonnie Rainville said after reviewing the current budget he felt comfortable recommending an award in the $3,000–$3,500 range. Councilor Diana Larson moved to award $3,000; the motion passed. Councilor Robert Chaney later moved to designate $6,000 into the 2025–26 budget cycle for Whisker Warriors to ensure the request is considered during budget development; the council approved that designation and the minutes note the council clarified that designation does not guarantee the amount.
The grant award will be funded from the city’s budget lines (possible sources discussed included the Council Discretionary fund and Support Services), and staff will follow up on accounting and reporting requirements.
