The Village of North Fond du Lac Board of Trustees unanimously authorized up to $35,000 in State and Local Fiscal Recovery Funds (SLFRF) to expand a playground being donated by BCI Burke at Village Park, Administrator Nick Leonard said.
Leonard told trustees Burke offered to donate a large playground that includes two separate playground structures as part of the company's 100th‑anniversary celebration. The Board approved using SLFRF money to pay for additional equipment — including swing sets and a zip line — and for site work such as excavation, sidewalk installation, concrete and wood chips. The existing playground will be removed as part of the project, Leonard said.
Trustee Ann Price moved to approve the SLFRF allocation; Trustee John Duffy seconded the motion and all five trustees voted aye. Leonard said the Board and staff were grateful for Burke’s offer and that the SLFRF funds would allow the Village to complete the site work and add supplemental equipment.
The vote authorizes staff to move forward with procurement and site preparation. The Board did not specify a construction timeline in the meeting record.
