Councilor Michele McCall-Wallace supported moving forward with the appointment, citing the application and the length of the vacancy. Councilor James Fage moved to adopt the resolution; Councilor McCall-Wallace seconded. The motion carried with Councilors Reding, McCall-Wallace, Papen and Fage voting yes, and Councilor Hagedorn, Councilor Dumbrow and Mayor Goodwin voting no.
The appointment is effective immediately and fills the library board seat through June 30, 2028. Council discussion noted concerns about outreach and diversity of applicants but recorded no motion to reopen the recruitment; Library Director Doughty indicated the Library Board’s unanimous endorsement of Hatcher.
