Board approves personnel, tech purchases and three-year streaming agreement

The board of the Annette Island School District approved multiple personnel appointments, equipment purchases and a three-year agreement for streaming services during a routine meeting that concluded at 12:22 p.m.

Chair (Speaker 2) read personnel actions into the record and the board approved a contract extension for Tom Lindsay, effective July 2024 through January 2028, along with a slate of FY27 hires including certified teacher Michael Arnold and special education secretary Elizabeth Eden. Board member (Speaker 3) seconded motions as required; items were approved by voice vote.

Director (Speaker 4) told the board the agenda included technology purchases to keep classroom devices current: the board approved the purchase of 80 iPads and cases for $45,996 and authorized up to $49,500 for 70 Chromebooks, cases and two Chromebook carts. The board also approved a three-year agreement with Huddle for streaming services, which staff recommended based on feedback from coaches and the technology team.

The board approved the first reading of the high-school handbook as part of the action-item package; staff noted remaining handbook edits would be completed as a follow-up. Chair moved each packaged item and, following seconding and brief procedural checks, the motions carried by voice vote.

What happens next: Contract and purchase documents will be finalized per district procurement processes and personnel hires will be onboarded following standard HR procedures. The handbook will return for final approval if additional edits are required.
