The Waukesha Public Art Committee agreed to revise gallery-call dates and heard updates on alley improvements and a council agenda item that would reduce committee membership.
Staff said the recurring gallery art call will be adjusted with a mid‑September deadline and a presentation moved to the October meeting if needed. "I'll just change the dates," the staff member said. The committee confirmed posting the call on the public art website and outreach to groups including the Pewaukee Arts Council.
Staff also reported on the Friedman alley open house, saying seven or eight members of the public attended and comments were generally supportive; some questioned use of taxpayer money and staff said grant options and CDBG funds are being sought for more permanent work. The staff member noted a city-council agenda item that night would propose reducing the public art committee from six to five members, changing the quorum threshold from four to three if approved.
The committee discussed moving its next regular meeting to Oct. 1 to allow staff more time for application reviews and to gather feedback on artist-credit labeling; members agreed to follow up by email to staff on signage and selection feedback.
