Resident asks board to revisit chicken-keeping license after coop found to exceed ordinance size

At the start of the June 19 meeting resident Lane Baze told the Village Board he had built a backyard chicken coop and subsequently received a letter from Peter Fetters informing him he needed a chicken-keeping license.
Baze said a village inspection found the coop measured 5.5 square feet larger than what the village ordinance allows and asked the trustees to add the matter to the next agenda so the board can consider the licensing or any needed variance.
No formal action was taken on the request at the June 19 meeting; the minutes record Baze’s request for the item to be placed on a future agenda. The board did not discuss ordinance text nor make a determination during this session.
